Orange Beach
I visited Orange Beach, Alabama for a weekend in January, 2010, months before the BP oil spill sent oil onto its beaches. Even now, at a glance the beaches are beautiful. But oil lurks beneath the surface, damaging the eco system, killing wildlife, and hurting the fishing and tourism industry. Even after clean-up is completed, effects to the environment will be felt for a very long time. I am glad I was there before this disaster happened. The weather was cool and blustery, but the beaches were wonderfully pure and the sunsets were fantastic.
